Happy Sunday, South Florida!Happy Easter! Hopefully everyone had a nice holiday weekend so far. Luckily for South Florida, the weather cooperated on Saturday where we got to enjoy plenty of sunshine and mainly dry conditions across our area. Interior sections of South Florida (outside of our metro areas) saw a great amount of rain and thunderstorm activity on Saturday afternoon. While conditions were quiet for the southeast coast of Florida, changes are underway, so if you haven’t used your umbrella in what seems like a little bit of time, be sure to take them out once again because we will be needing them later today. In the meantime, this morning we woke up to mild and muggy conditions with above average temperatures in the 70s and mainly dry conditions as most of the showers were found offshore. For those observing Easter, the forecast today could get tricky. If you have outdoor plans for the holiday, be sure to keep the umbrella close. Showers and a few thunderstorms may return ...Norfolk Southern train derails in Pittsburgh, no injuries reported

Each incident is blamed on various technical issues. In the past two months, two Norfolk Southern trains derailed in Ohio and another in Alabama. On Feb. 3, in East Palestine, Ohio, a train derailed due to faulty breaks and released hazardous materials into the community. Residents are concerned about long-term affects on the air and drinking water quality.A derailment in Springfield, Ohio a month later was due to loose wheels, and just five days later in Anniston, Alabama another train derailed. The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against Norfolk Southern after the first incident, and the company’s CEO said they are working under the direction of EPA agents .Chicago Cubs minor-league preview: Who to watch at each affiliate, including Brennen Davis, Matt Mervis and Pete Crow-Armstrong

One of the longest House of Commons committee filibusters in the last 10 years was the recent marathon attempt by the Liberals to prevent the prime minister’s chief of staff from testifying about foreign interference.Throughout February and March, government members of the procedure and House affairs committee argued that Katie Telford should answer questions because of ministerial responsibility: the idea that it is up to ministers — including the prime minister — to speak on behalf of their files, staff and departments.“This is essentially the way the executive is held to account,” said Lori Turnbull, director of Dalhousie University’s school of public administration.Telford eventually agreed to testify sometime this week, following mounting pressure from the Conservatives, who had support from the New Democrats and Bloc Québécois. That ended about 24 hours of Liberal stalling that lasted through several committee meetings. More than 115,000 customers in Quebec are still without power as Hydro-Québec makes repairs to its energy grid after last week’s deadly ice storm. Most of the remaining outages are in the Montreal region, where 82,000 customers are in the dark.Hydro-Québec says some of the roughly 3,000 remaining outages are in hard-to-access areas or are trickier to resolve, slowing the progress of repairs. The province has announced some grocery stores can remain open on Easter Sunday — a statutory holiday — to help residents running low on food after the blackout. The temporary measure applies to stores in six particularly hard-hit regions: Montreal, Monteregie, Laval, Outaouais, Laurentides and Lanaudiere.More than a million people were without power at the peak of the outages caused by Wednesday’s storm, which left large swaths of southern Quebec and eastern Ontario under a coat of ice and is being linked to three deaths. This report by The Canadian Press was first published April 9, 20...Latest news
