COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri appeals court ruled Tuesday against Republican-written summaries of abortion-rights ballot measures that described several proposed amendments as allowing “dangerous and unregulated abortions until live birth.” A three-judge panel of the Western District Court of Appeals found the summaries written by Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, who is running for governor in 2024, are politically partisan. Ballot summaries are used on Missouri ballots to help voters understand sometimes lengthy and complex constitutional amendments and policy changes. Ashcroft’s original description of the amendments, which could go on the ballot in 2024 if supporters gather enough voter signatures, would have asked voters whether they want to “allow for dangerous, unregulated, and unrestricted abortions, from conception to live birth, without requiring a medical license or potentially being subject to medical malpractice.”But the appeals court panel wrote that allowi...SLU pumpkin carving contest serves as break from midterms, exams

ST. LOUIS – Students from the Saint Louis University School of Science and Engineering took a break from midterms and exams to participate in a pumpkin carving contest.Fourteen teams of students showcased their creativity for one of three cash prizes: $1,000 to the winner, $500 for second place, and $250 for third place.“The requirements for this were that students picked up a pumpkin and the students had to convey the science and engineering fields. And how do they convey that in the pumpkin as their medium?" Scott Sell, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education in the School of Science and Engineering, said. The only trouble with these building materials is time.“We’re going to have to work through that for next year,” Amy Price, outreach coordinator for the School of Science and Engineering, said. “The competition began last week. Then, the students went on fall break. So we’ve seen some of the decomposition of the pumpkins. So, maybe we’ll have to incorporate that next year.”Through four games, Denver Nuggets’ second unit doesn’t look like the work in progress it’s supposed to be

One of Michael Malone’s core coaching philosophies with the Nuggets is rooted in an old-school but obvious idea.“What I do now obviously is trying to have Nikola (Jokic) or Jamal (Murray) on the floor at all times, and that’s something that my father would always talk about,” Malone said Monday before the Nuggets defeated Utah and improved to 4-0. “Whether it was a guy like Phil Jackson always having either Scottie (Pippen) or Michael (Jordan) on the floor, you want to have one of your horses available and on the court at all times.”That makes it easy to credit Denver’s success at any given moment to whichever of those two players is on the floor. But as for who is surrounding Murray or Jokic, this season was expected to be one big never-ending adjustment. No more Bruce Brown. No more Jeff Green. Some bench assembly required. So far, somehow, the system appears seamless. It’s only four games, but a sample size is starting to accumulate f...DA pursued baseless investigation into judge after unfavorable rulings in Barry Morphew case, state authorities allege
