OAKLAND — Aisha Weber testified Friday that she can’t remember every time Oakland police Officer Phong Tran slipped her a couple hundred dollars in cash over the years. But she said one payday remains crystal clear: A $5,000 cash gift from Tran barely 30 minutes after she finished testifying in a murder trial – one she knew nothing about, except the carefully-planted lines that Tran fed her beforehand. The allegation – which elicited a whistle in a courtroom gallery – highlighted testimony Friday morning in a key evidentiary hearing for Tran, who is accused of bribing a witness to falsely testify, and then later lying about it at trial.Tran, 45, faces five felony charges, including two counts of perjury, as well as charges of bribery of a witness, attempted bribery of a witness and subornation of perjury under oath.
