Movie star and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger went viral on Tuesday for posting a video of him personally filling what he said was a pothole that had been bothering him and his neighbors in Brentwood "for weeks."But as it turns out, the hole was not technically a pothole. The video, which has amassed over 11 million views since it was posted on Tuesday afternoon, shows “The Terminator” actor filling the rut with packaged blacktop. “I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it,” Schwarzenegger tweeted. However, the hole that was pestering drivers wasn’t there by accident. According to a statement from SoCalGas, the hole was an active service trench. “This location is a utility trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by the Southern California Gas Company,” SoCalGas said in a statement to KTLA. “The Gas Company placed a temporary asphalt surface, which will then be replaced w...Orange County high school placed on brief lockdown due to man with pocket knife

Los Angeles fast-food workers rallied Thursday to celebrate a victory for four Boyle Heights McDonald’s workers who were fired after striking. Nearly three years ago, the workers were let go after they raised concerns over workplace COVID-19 safety.Lizzet Aguilar – one of the four workers who walked off the job – first raised her concerns in the spring of 2020 after her manager allegedly failed to enforce mask mandates, social distancing and personal protective equipment. Workers also said they were not informed about positive COVID-19 cases. “Every worker in California should be able to speak out about dangerous workplace conditions without fear of punishment,” Aguilar said in a news release. “But in one of the worst periods of the COVID-19 pandemic, McDonald’s chose to fire us instead of listening to our health and safety concerns.”In February, the California Labor Commissioner ruled that the Boyle Heights location would face a $113,000 citation for illegal retal...Here are some events to go to in Los Angeles if you can't make it to Coachella

A new and growing threat is facing California condors, America’s largest bird with wingspans that can stretch 9 feet and which have slowly recovered from the brink of extinction in recent decades.A highly contagious strain of avian influenza has killed at least 18 of the massive birds around the Grand Canyon in Arizona over the past month. And now California biologists are scrambling address what could be a catastrophic setback if condors in Big Sur and other parts of the state become infected.“The disease has moved so quickly,” said Kelly Sorenson, executive director of the Ventana Wildlife Society, a non-profit group that has released condors into the wilds around Big Sur and San Simeon since 1997. “And a vaccine development has not. We are in a very tough spot.”“We are preparing for a worst case scenario,” he added. “It has the potential to be devastating to the population.”Sorenson’s organization this week purchased 10 ...How the Warriors can shed road woes with easier travel to Sacramento

SAN FRANCISCO — The Golden State Warriors were one of the worst road teams in the NBA this season. But they can create a slight home court advantage against the Sacramento Kings in this first round playoff series. The Kings’ fast-paced offense will be its own challenge, but that only 90 miles down I-80 separate both teams weakens the Kings’ home-court advantage. After many playoff series through the years flying across the country to New Orleans, Memphis, Oklahoma City or all three arenas in Texas, the Warriors can enjoy a travel day that only requires a 90-minute bus ride.“In the playoffs, whenever you can minimize travel, we really appreciate that for sure,” Jordan Poole said. The Warriors have the worst road record, 11-30, of any playoff team. Do the road woes lessen without all the travel traps?Poole — in his second career playoff appearance — made clear there’s a significant difference on players’ sleep schedule and physical b...31 Best Bitcoin Gambling Sites Ranked by Crypto Online Gambling Options, Fairness & More

After using racist language in a match against the San Jose Earthquakes last Saturday, New York Red Bulls forward Dante Vanzeir will miss the next six Major League Soccer matches.MLS announced the six-match suspension and fine of an undisclosed amount for Vanzeir, who issued an apology and announced he was stepping away from the club on Tuesday.“I want to sincerely apologize to the players of the Earthquakes. I will do everything I can to be part of the change that needs to happen in the sport and our world,” Vanzier said in a statement. “I accept full responsibility for my actions. While I did not intend to cause any hard or offense with my language, I know that I did and for that I am deeply sorry.”Vanzeir uttered racist language after a foul in the 54th minute of play. Several Earthquakes players responded to the words, resulting in a small fracas on the pitch and a nearly 20-minute stoppage in the match before play resumed.Vanzeir, 24, remained on the pitch for another 15 minute...Warriors bringing Wiggins off bench would mimic 2022 Curry plan

The Warriors could start the 2023 playoffs like they started the 2022 postseason: with a key starter coming off the bench.Andrew Wiggins, who returned to the Warriors last week after more than a month away due to a family matter, may not return directly to the starting lineup when he steps on the court in the playoffs.Coach Steve Kerr said Thursday that Wiggins looked great, was feeling good “and ready to go”, but did not outline a full plan for the forward in Saturday’s series opener against the Kings in Sacramento. The Athletic reported that Golden State is leaning toward deploying him off the bench and will play under a 25-minute restriction.Last season, the Warriors brought Steph Curry off the bench for the first four games of their first-round series against the Nuggets. He averaged 27.5 points in those four games, and the Warriors closed out Denver in Game 5 after moving him back into the starting lineup.Wiggins was said to be feeling good after scrimmaging on back...San Francisco’s Spring Restaurant Week offers deals at 200 restaurants.
