Milpitas salon is a Silicon Valley Clean Energy showcase Electric Showcase winnerA Milpitas salon owner was among the winners of Silicon Valley Clean Energy’s (SVCE) Electric Showcase Awards for her efforts to go electric in her business.All 16 winners were recognized by the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors on Oct. 2.The Sunnyvale-based clean energy aggregator received more than 150 applications for this year’s awards from Santa Clara County residents and small business owners.Many of the winners utilized rebates available through SVCE with state and federal incentives to help cover the costs of upgrading to heat pumps, induction cooktops, electric vehicle chargers and other technologies. Nonprofit formed to support older adults in Los Gatos A group of Los Gatos residents formed a nonprofit foundation to support older adults and create an all-ages community center.The Los Gatos Foundation for Older Adults to Thrive aims to promote an age-friendly community and make the town a place where older adults are engaged, valued and provided equitable opportunity to flourish.One of its central goals is creating a community center to serve as a hub for resources and promote intergenerational collaboration. The town council voted earlier this year to allocate $866,000 of its remaining American Rescue Plan Act funds to revamp the Adult Recreation Center into a community center.The center was a key goal in the senior services roadmap, which was endorsed by the council in February.
