San Bernardino County Chief Executive Officer Leonard X. Hernandez has resigned from his position. The county announced his resignation Friday, adding that it was effective immediately.Hernandez has held the job, which is the highest-ranking non-elected position in the county, since September 2020.In a release issued by San Bernardino County, Hernandez said he would be stepping down due to an undisclosed "urgent family health issue" that will require his full and immediate attention.Leonard X. MARTINEZ, Calif. (KRON) -- There is a large police presence following an attempted burglary and shooting on Sunrise Drive off of Pacheco Drive in Martinez Friday morning. Police received a report of a video alarm at Velvet, a cannabis dispensary, at around 3:27 a.m., according to the Martinez Police Department.Police were advised that there were multiple suspects and two vehicles at the business.According to the owners of the cannabis shop, they received a call from the Martinez Police Department notifying them of an attempted burglary. The suspect(s) was not able to break into the business. Officers arrived about five minutes later, and one of the vehicles, a white SUV as described by police, fled the scene. Several shots were fired and there was an assault on an officer, police said.The second vehicle attempted to flee before crashing into a fire hydrant. (KRON) -- A collision between a Cruise car and fire truck occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Polk and Turk streets in San Francisco, according to Cruise. After 10 p.m., a Cruise car entered the intersection on a green light when it was struck by a fire truck that appeared to be on its way to an emergency scene. Witnesses at the scene told KRON4 the emergency vehicle had its lights flashing and sirens on at the time. The crash happened while the firetruck was in "Code 3" emergency mode, meaning the fire truck's lights and siren were activated, the San Francisco Police Department said. (KRON) -- A Lucky's supermarket in Novato was closed Thursday due to an active pest infestation, according to Marin Count Environmental Health Services. The entire store has been closed.As of Thursday, Lucky supermarket in Novato had a "Closed" sign from the County of Marin Environmental Health Services. A KRON4 photographer visited the market on Thursday at its 1761 Grant Ave location. Trader Joe’s crackers product recalled, may contain metal "This facility was found to have violations of the California Health and Safety Code which constitute an immediate danger to public health or safety," the sign said. "As a result, the permit to operate has been temporarily suspended and this facility has been ordered to remain closed until a written reinstatement of the permit has been issued." (KTXL) — R&B, soul, and hip-hop festival Sol Blume will take over Discovery Park this weekend. Brent Faiyaz and Northern California native Kehlani will headline the 2023 festival in Sacramento on Saturday and Sunday. This year’s two-day festival will include over 30 acts such as Ella Mai, Jessie Reyez, Isaiah Rashad, Joey Bada$$, Chlöe, and special guest Teyana Taylor, who will be performing “The Last Rose Petal 2,” according to festival organizers. The festival was supposed to happen in April but was postponed to August due to flooding at Discovery Park following the severe storms Sacramento endured in January. The festival was founded in 2017 by ENT Legends, and this year's event marks the fourth time happening in Sacramento since its inception. (KRON) -- A San Jose man was charged with attempted murder after he allegedly attacked his pregnant wife at home and shot a police officer who tried to help, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.The female police officer's partner dragged her out of the line of fire, likely saving her life, San Jose Police Chief Anthony Mata said.The accused gunman, 44-year-old Gabriel Mario Carreras, is slated to make his first court appearance Friday afternoon. If convicted of the charges filed against him, Carreras could face a life prison sentence, prosecutors said.
