Jake Burger returns from injured list for White Sox CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox reinstated infielder Jake Burger from the 10-day injured list on Sunday.Burger was starting at designated hitter and hitting seventh for the White Sox against the Houston Astros.Burger played in two rehab games with Triple-A Charlotte after he went on the injured list May 4 for a strained left oblique. He is hitting .224 with seven home runs and 14 RBIs in 23 games this season.The White Sox also optioned catcher Carlos Pérez to Charlotte. (AP) — A shooting at a neighborhood gathering in Arizona left two people dead and five wounded, police said Sunday.The shooting happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday in the southwestern city of Yuma, said Yuma police spokesperson Sgt. Lori Franklin. She said an investigation is underway but no suspects have been arrested. A motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately known, but Franklin said there was no remaining threat to the community.Officers went to the gathering after getting reports of an aggravated assault, Franklin said. When they arrived, they found seven people with gunshot wounds.Two men — ages 19 and 20 — were pronounced dead at Yuma hospitals and a 16-year-old boy was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital with serious injuries, she said. Boy, 11, struck by vehicle during sword fight SAN DIEGO -- An 11-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in the Wooded Area neighborhood on Saturday in the midst of a toy sword fight, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. when a 27-year-old man was driving his 2018 Ford Fusion south at 700 Catalina Blvd. and the boy stepped into the path of the vehicle from a dirt path along the west curb line, according to the San Diego Police Department. 6 places to go kayaking in San Diego Authorities say the vehicle struck the boy in the southbound traffic lane.
