In one of the night’s first awards, Ke Huy Quan, the former child star, capped his extraordinary comeback with the Oscar for best supporting actor. Quan, beloved for his roles as Short Round in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and Data in “Goonies,” had all but given up acting before being cast in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” His win, among the most expected of the night, was nevertheless one of its most moving moments. A nearly two day standoff involving a man who allegedly fired shots at Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies has come to an end after the suspect was discovered dead Sunday. "I have been informed that the suspect involved in the Valinda barricade situation has committed suicide," Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis announced on Twitter. A 34-year-old Chino Hills man was arrested Sunday after stealing a backpack that contained GPS enabled headphones that led deputies to his location, authorities announced. Deputies with the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department responded to the 5400 block of Wild Sage Place in Chino Hills Sunday morning at around 8:40 a.m. on reports of a vehicle burglary. During the investigation, deputies recovered video surveillance that captured the suspect, identified as Terrall Meisenheimer, break into the victim’s vehicle. “The suspect stole the victim’s backpack, which contained miscellaneous items and headphones equipped with GPS tracking technology,” a sheriff’s department news release stated. Using the GPS tracking, the victim was able to pinpoint the location of the headphones at a business parking lot on Mountain Avenue in Chino, where deputies found the 34-year-old suspect in possession of the stolen property. STANFORD – Stanford will start its quest for a fourth NCAA Tournament championship in a familiar place – as the No. 1 seed playing at Maples Pavilion.The Cardinal (28-5) was placed in one of the two Seattle regionals. Friday it will face the winner of Wednesday night’s game between No. 16 seeds Southern and Sacred Heart.If Stanford wins its first game, the second-round match-up Sunday at Maples would be against either No. 8 Ole Miss or No. 9 Gonzaga.
