OTTAWA — Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino has appointed a retired appeals court justice to head a committee to oversee the changes recommended by the public inquiry into the April 2020 mass shootings in Nova Scotia. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 21-year-old man with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of two teenagers from Mississauga.Just before 3:00 a.m. on May 22, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment responded to a residence on Mackay Street in Pembroke, Ont., where two male teenagers were discovered with critical injuries.OPP said the two victims were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.The victims were identified as Noah Nathaniel Annis and Alando Omario Davidson, both 16, of Mississauga. A post-mortem determined they died from gunshot wounds, police noted.A third teenage victim, also 16 of Mississauga, was seriously injured. WAUKEGAN, Ill. — A Waukegan man trying to stop a fight outside of a bowling alley early Monday was shot and killed.Just before 1:10 a.m., police responded to Vista East Hospital on the report of a gunshot victim.Shortly after arriving to the hospital, the 21-year-old victim, later identified as Mieshon Harvey, of Waukegan, was pronounced dead.Officers were able to determine the shooting happened in the parking lot of Bowlero, located in the 600 block of Lakehurst Road.Witnesses told police two females were fighting in the lot when Harvey stepped in to try to stop it. Police said Harvey and Josiah Mars, 24, of Zion, then got into an altercation. DUPAGE COUNTY, Il. -- An Oswego man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle on Monday.According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, an officer with the Oak Brook Police Department located a 2019 Jaguar SUV that was reported stolen stopped near the intersection of I-83 and 22nd Street just before 6:30 p.m. on Monday. HARTWICK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Tuesday, a Waterford man was arrested following an investigation into a stolen dump trailer. Police say the dump trailer was stolen from a residence and that the suspect, Christopher L. Crispell, 40, attempted to sell it on Facebook Marketplace. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Crispell was arrested on unrelated charges and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility.
